So here it is…my first ever blog post on stripesandsage.com! I thought it would make sense to start by telling you a little about me and my Mr B – and the start of our adventure together…I had all but given up on men when we met. I decided dating was definitely not for me…meeting men with absolutely no sense of humour, aspirations, or personality for that matter! Who all subsequently disappeared off of the face of the earth and went to live on a desert island somewhere (I’m sure!). What a waste of time.
My feelings at that point towards the opposite sex were at an all time low…however at a mutual friend’s housewarming party, that completely changed. After an awkward exchange of ‘hello’ in the hallway (and me trying to pick my jaw back up off the floor), I had forgotten all about my current man-hating mood and decided that I would dedicate my evening to getting to know this gorgeous man (whilst simultaneously drinking copious amounts of prosecco!).
Mr B: 6ft 2″, shaved head, blue/green eyes, amazing sense of humour, family man, perfect gentleman…and works in uniform! The more we got to know each other that evening, the more I began to realise what a wonderful man he is, and how lucky I am to have found him. I knew at that moment I could spend the rest of my life with him. So what did I do? I freaked out!! I know right!? Utterly ridiculous. I crazily let him go!!
It wasn’t until 3 months later, on my birthday, that we got back in touch. I was certain he would have moved on in the time we weren’t in contact, and thought I had missed my only chance of being with my perfect man. However they’re right what they say: If it’s meant to be, it will be. We went on our first date a few days later and from that moment on, we were inseparable…
We moved in together after 4 months, and have been living in a tiny, one bedroom flat in South London ever since. 2 Christmases, 4 holidays and lots of talk about future plans later, we decided to try to sell our little London home, and find a bigger home in Surrey, where we can settle down and hopefully start our own family.
So that’s us…Me and Mr B xx
